We also specialize in custom Layer Grippers. Our layer grippers are designed to pick up layers of products off of pallets or stacks and can transport the entire layer or the selected zone of a layer onto another pallet, slick, or work area. Layer grippers greatly reduce the time of palletizing or depalletizing products. Below are some examples of some we have built for customers in the past.
Above is a 2-zoned layer gripper that we built for the 2011 Automate trade show in Chicago. It is a multi-purpose tool built for picking up layers of boxes, shrink-wrapped product, etc. In this case, layer capacity was up to 450 lbs. It uses 2 vacuum pumps, one for each zone, which enables it to drop products to a narrower conveyor or stack products from the same layer. Below is a VIDEO of the layer gripper in action:
The tool shown here (above) utilizes mechanical clamping arms as well as vacuum-powered lifting. It has an interchangeable tool in the center and is capable of picking up more uneven layers of products.
This layer gripper (above) is designed to be lowered down over palletized layers. It is a multi-funtional gripper that was designed to pick up everything from boxes to shrink-wrapped bottles. It is equiped with mechanical gripping arms, a global vacuum, and skirt and has a lifting capacity of 530 lbs.
